Industry 4.0 / IoT
Data collection, digitization, and utilization for greater cost-effectiveness—these are the core concepts of Industry 4.0.
With the help of a special library, WAGO’s PFC100/PFC200 controllers are transformed into IoT controllers that transmit data from the field level to the cloud. There, the data can be processed and used for analysis. This creates tremendous added value for many aspects of your business—from increasing production efficiency and implementing building energy management to developing additional services for end customers. Existing connected systems are also integrated into the IoT, making them more resilient and extending their service life.

The cloud connection settings are configured via Web-Based Management (WBM). WAGO e!COCKPIT includes appropriate libraries for defining the variables to be transferred to the cloud in the PLC program, allowing you to maintain full control. Information from the controller, such as status (running/stopped), connection status, and device information, can also be transmitted to a cloud solution or distributed via an MQTT broker. With their wide variety of interfaces, WAGO controllers also serve as the perfect IoT gateway. They can collect numerous field signals, communicate using many industrial protocols, and even enable cloud connectivity for sensors and actuators that do not have a web interface of their own.
Field data connection to IT apps
The PFC100/PFC200 controllers perfectly combine real-time requirements with IT functionality.
They support Modbus/TCP and EtherNet/IP for use in industrial environments. HTTP, SNTP, SNMP, FTP, BootP, DHCP, DNS, Telnet, SSH, and other protocols simplify integration into IT environments.
The integrated web pages and web-based visualization provide IT applications with real-time process data. In addition, the controllers include function libraries for email, SOAP, ASP, IP configuration, Ethernet sockets, and the file system.
Open code & Linux®
WAGO’s high-performance hardware and the robust Linux® operating system allow you to choose between programming in IEC 61131 or directly under Linux®.
This makes it possible to use multiple runtime environments, such as PHP and Python. Another advantage of Linux®-based controllers is the integration of external CODESYS libraries written in C code, which enables rapid expansion of PLC functions.
The runtime environment can also be created entirely from custom C/C++ programs, allowing access to both the internal bus and to MODBUS, CAN, and PROFIBUS.
One advantage over other operating systems is security. In addition to excellent access control and comprehensive management of user and group permissions, security is continuously improved by the community. Linux® is extremely reliable and stable thanks to its open-source concept.
WAGO’s “EmbeddedLinux” controllers feature Linux® firmware that can be extended with open-source applications. The controller’s firmware itself is available as a “Board Support Package” (BSP). For more information, contact MG Pro.
Modular, Scalable, Expandable
Using the WAGO I/O System 750 input/output modules, the PFC100 and PFC200 controllers can be expanded to include any required I/O interface. The modular DIN-rail mounting design allows for easy installation, expansion, and modification of the I/O module without tools. The simplified design prevents installation errors. In addition, the proven CAGE CLAMP® technology ensures that all connections made on-site are quick, vibration-resistant, and maintenance-free. Depending on the density of the I/O modules, the field level can be wired directly using 1-, 2-, 3-, or 4-wire technology.

Reliability & Durability
The PFC100/PFC200 controllers are designed and tested for the most demanding environments (temperature ranges, shock/vibration loads, and electrostatic discharges) in accordance with the highest standards.
Two series of controllers are also available for extreme operating conditions and to meet the heightened requirements of shipbuilding, the petrochemical industry, railway infrastructure, and other specific applications.

The XTR
Range
With the PFC200 XTR controllers, WAGO offers a rugged PLC for extreme environments and Ex zones. Requiring no additional protective equipment, the controller withstands temperature fluctuations from -40 to +70°C, has exceptional resistance to surge voltages up to 5 kV, is resistant to electromagnetic interference, and is vibration-resistant up to 5g.
